Barry Gough, founder of Memento Exclusives

Our Story

From an F1 Garage to the Memorabilia Experts

Fifteen years in

It Started with What the Teams Threw Away

Barry Gough spent his early twenties on the road with a Formula 1® team, working as a race mechanic. He noticed the thing everyone in the paddock had stopped noticing: at the end of a season, the bodywork, the wheel rims, the parts that had run at a Grand Prix - all of it was thrown away.

The idea started there, in an F1 garage in the 1990s. It took until 2010 to become a company. Memento Exclusives was built to give those pieces a second life, and to give fans a way to own something that had genuinely been there.

Today the company runs the official memorabilia programmes for Formula 1, MotoGP and the UFC, employs more than a hundred people in Northamptonshire - the heart of Motorsport Valley - and handles everything from a fifty-pound keepsake to a half-million-pound show car. The motto has not changed since the garage: own the moment.

It's hard to believe that most of our growth has happened in the last five years.

The Idea in the Garage

A race mechanic watches a season's worth of bodywork and wheel rims go in the bin. The thought that someone would want to keep it does not go away.

The people who build it

The Expert Crew from the Paddock

The founder is a race mechanic by trade, and so are a lot of the people here. Composites technicians, painters, fabricators and engineers who spend seasons in the pit lane before they join our team.

They build to the standard they are trained to, because it is the only one they know - and it is why a show car leaving this factory looks as at home trackside as it does in a gallery.
