A Style Synonymous with Action
There’s something iconic about the look of a MotoGP™ rider in full race gear. Whether it’s an elite overtake by Marc Márquez or Francesco Bagnaia crossing the line in first place, the brightly coloured leathers are the image every fan holds deep in their memory. The slow-motion shots of riders skimming elbows on the tarmac, or leathers scraping along the ground after a collision these are the moments that define the sport.
These suits are built for more than just safety. They’re designed for the moments that give MotoGP™ its edge, the last-lap lunges, the elbows-out overtakes, the celebrations, the crashes, the comebacks. None of it happens without the gear that makes it all possible.
And for fans, they’re more than just functional. They’re a symbol of everything that makes MotoGP™ special. The pursuit of perfection at 225mph is woven into the sport and that’s why owning a piece of this technology, this history, is truly something special.
As fans, we’ve witnessed unforgettable moments like Valentino Rossi, draped in his iconic neon green and white leathers, battling Casey Stoner for the lead at the 2008 United States Grand Prix. The legendary Corkscrew section became the backdrop for Rossi’s audacious block pass on Stoner, a manoeuvre that stunned fans and showcased Rossi’s skill and bravery. That last-lap battle wouldn’t have been possible without their race leathers, keeping the riders protected and adding an extra thrill for fans in the moment.
Because these aren’t just racing suits. They’re part of the story.
Now you can own a piece of the history forged by the riders out on track with our new collection of leathers products. Check out the new Álex Márquez and David Alonso leather products, here.

Style with a Purpose
MotoGP™ is the pinnacle of super bike racing, highlighting the spectacle of speed, precision, and the daring ability to race. Riders take huge risks during each lap, approaching corners at unbelievable speeds and pushing the limit of what is capable on two wheels.
With this amazing speed, comes extreme danger for everyone participating in the sport, and as such, the strictest safety measures must be in place to protect the riders. While the technology within the bikes often steals the spotlight, the unsung hero of the sport is the leathers in which every competitor must wear.
The Science Behind the Safety
Modern MotoGP™ leathers are not a million miles away from the ones used during the 20th century - constructed from premium cowhide or kangaroo leather for flexibility and abrasion resistance, which also feature Kevlar stitching for added durability. The leathers used today, however, are custom built for each rider's needs, allowing for flexibility of movement in the corners. Today’s leathers are also designed with a multitude of technological devices which help keep the rider safe throughout the gruelling conditions of a Grand Prix.
At the core of the functionality lies the airbag system, a groundbreaking safety feature that deploys in milliseconds during a crash. The system significantly reduces the forces exerted on key areas such as the collarbone, spine, and chest, helping riders avoid severe injuries.
To ensure precision, sensors are fitted within the leathers to constantly measure crash data, including g-force, angle of attack, and velocity. The airbag will only deploy when necessary, providing riders with lifesaving protection to vital areas of the body without hindering performance.
Data is Key to Success
The technology within the leathers does not end with protecting the riders during a racing incident. MotoGP™ leathers are also equipped with telemetry data systems that transmit live crash data to teams in real-time. The data aids medical teams on stand-by to understand the degree of the crash and what medical response is necessary for the rider. Furthermore, the telemetry system is also used by engineers to refine the system and improve the leathers when necessary.
Have you ever watched a MotoGP™ Grand Prix and wondered, what the colour indicators on a rider’s leathers are for?
This is the traffic light system which offers a visual representation of the current status of the airbag to the rider. Green means the airbag is armed and ready, yellow signifies a warning for the team to check the airbag, and red indicates deployment. It seems like a simple piece of technology; however, this is a vital piece of safety equipment to give riders piece of mind and trust in their equipment.
The most remarkable stat of them all, is that despite all the equipment incorporated into the leathers, the entire suit weighs only a mere 4-5kg. This lightweight design means the leathers do not hinder the performance of the riders and teams.
From the basics of the past to today’s high-tech designs, MotoGP™ leathers have come a long way. Each of the leathers is tested under extreme conditions to meet CE certification standards, ensuring they can endure the rigorous conditions on track and keep riders safe.
