How we use 3D Printing for F1 Car Parts - Behind The Scenes

The world of Formula 1 is constantly evolving, and one of the driving forces behind that evolution is the integration of advanced technology into car production. In our latest YouTube Video, Barry Gough, takes viewers on an exclusive tour of our factory, offering a first-hand look at the cutting-edge equipment reshaping the way Formula 1 cars are built. From 3D printing intricate pieces, to how they are pieced together to form the chassis shape, this video tour dives into all the ways 3D printing helps the team build a show car.

Barry kicks off the tour by introducing our latest investment: a set of state-of-the-art 3D printers. These machines are responsible for producing key parts like the snubber set, a small yet essential component that’s crucial for the car’s suspension system. He walks us through the process, showing how these printers produce intricate parts quickly and with unrivalled precision.

As the tour continues, we get a glimpse into various production areas—from the Trim Shop, where printed parts are refined for perfection, to the Grinding Room, where components are polished to meet exacting F1 standards.

The tour wraps up with a look at the rear wing assembly, a testament to how 3D printing speeds up the creation of one of the car's most aerodynamically critical components.

By combining cutting-edge technology with traditional craftsmanship, we're pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in F1 show car production. Be sure to watch the video to see firsthand how these innovations are shaping the future of our team.
